The main goal of INBIOBANK is the isolation and banking of adult stem cells and primary cells with high quality standards obtained from several tissue origins for their use in qualified nacional and international research projects. Traceability of cell production processes is guaranteed through ISO:9001 certification. Samples come from local hospitals obtained through altruistic sample donations for research purposes. Currently Inbiobank counts with Hospital Donostia (through the Transplant Coordination Unit -ONT-) and Policlinica Gipuzkoa as clinical nodes for sample collection.
INBIOBANK activities follow all ethical principles as established in international comittees for Biomedicine and Human Rights and works according to the principies of objectivity, collaboration, integration and solidarity. INBIOBANK is committed to ensuring the quality and safety of all its procedures, confidentiallity of personal data and every ethic requirement derived from the use of human samples based on the principles of precaution, proporcionality and absence of profit.
INBIOBANK activities are supervised by an external scientific advisory comittee composed by internationally recognized experts in the field of stem cell research and cell therapy from Academy and Industry. Besides its activities are also supervised by the Comite de Etica de la Investigacion de Euskadi (CEIC-E) as external advisory ethics comittee.
The biobank has been authorised by the Department of Health of the Basque Government and is a node of the Banco Nacional de Líneas Celulares (BNLC) of Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Spanish Department of Health).
